Getaway House

I just got back from the most amazing 'weekend' away. I say 'weekend' because we went on a tuesday, but it was a weekend for us. Two days of walking in the woods, eating smores, making fires, playing cards in bed, and waking up with the sun. My bf and I went to a @getawayhouse in the Catskills, and spent those two days completely disconnected from social media and our lives back in NYC. It was incredibly refreshing. Life for me has been hectic the past few months, and I really needed a break. Just a moment to tell myself to let go of everything I 'should' be doing, and to really fully do nothing at all. Social media is such an amazing tool to have as a society, but it can also be exhausting constantly trying to keep up with everyone else. It was so important for me to take a step away from this little computer in my hands, and refocus on the world around me. It really made me think about this rat race we are living in. Why do we do what we do? Who's telling us it has to be this way? Have we outsmarted ourselves as a society? For thousands of years our only job as humans was to survive. Now we must not only survive, but are also expected to thrive and constantly strive! Sometimes I think I just need to work on the surviving part....

On another note, we have such a beautiful earth. I am so glad I have chosen to eat in a way that doesn't contribute to the decline of this majestic planet. Going into nature reminded me just how delicate and precious all of this is. Let's reconnect with other humans and this beautiful earth. No phones or pictures required.
